SAN LUIS OBISPO, California March 13, 2020 – The health and safety of patients has always been the number one priority of Conversio Health and we are monitoring the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak closely.
While most cases are mild to moderate and not life-threatening, older adults and those with severe chronic medical conditions appear to be at higher risk of developing more serious complications from COVID-19. In the absence of a vaccine, we encourage our patients to follow the Steps to Prevent Illness provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at cdc.gov, and to consult their healthcare provider about additional steps to protect themselves.
Since Conversio Health is committed to protect our team and ultimately the patients that we serve, employees of Conversio Health follow a stringent infection control program, however we have added extra precautions as directed by the World Health Organization (WHO), CDC, and state agencies which include encouraging employees to stay at home if they are symptomatic or have had contact with someone presenting with COVID-19.
While Conversio Health ships medications to our patients, the CDC has reported a low risk of spreading any virus on packaging that is shipped, stating: "In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets."1
Spring allergies may present the same symptoms as the flu, so we encourage our patients to check with their healthcare provider if they are experiencing any flu-like symptoms or difficulty breathing. Patients with questions or concerns related to their respiratory condition or respiratory medication may contact our pharmacy at 1-866-239-3784 (TTY users dial 711 first). In any emergency, please dial 911.
"The leadership team of Conversio Health is 100% focused on continuing to deliver much needed respiratory medications to our patients while maintaining preventative measures to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our business operations. Conversio Health is working hard to navigate through these challenging times and remains committed to its patients and our health care partners." - Taylor Cline, CEO - Conversio Health
