Medication Adherence

A recent study published in the American Journal of Managed Care found that 1 in 6 patients with COPD in the United States do not take their medications as prescribed due to the cost associated with them. Medication non-adherence can lead to increasing COPD symptoms and hospitalizations.

Conversio Health’s value-based respiratory disease management program delivers an end-to-end care solution for patients with COPD. Our easy-to-use smart breathing devices and patient-focused technology facilitate medication adherence. Conversio’s medications and supplies are shipped directly to patients’ homes.

Conversio’s clinical pharmacists, respiratory therapists, health coaches, and patient care coordinators regularly engage with patients to monitor medication adherence and support their progress.

Our program improves outcomes, prevents hospitalizations, and reduces the total cost of care for patients.

Breathing Exercises

For people with chronic lung diseases like COPD and asthma, breathing exercises can help you breathe easier and make your lungs more efficient.

Relax, bring your shoulders down, close your eyes, and try these two exercises.

Pursed lip breathing helps slow down your breathing and keeps your airways open longer. It takes less effort to breathe and improves the air exchange in your lungs. Start by breathing in through your nose for two seconds. Then pucker or purse your lips, as if you’re going to blow out a candle, and breathe out slowly through your pursed lips for four seconds.

Belly breathing can train your diaphragm to do more of the work needed for breathing. Place one hand on your abdomen and the other on your chest. Breathe in through your nose and focus on feeling your abdomen rise under your hand. Breathe out slowly through pursed lips and feel your abdomen fall under your hand.

Try practicing these exercises for 5 to 10 minutes each day.
